Guidance on accessing support if you are homeless

It is important to act quickly and when possible, not wait until you are homeless.

If you are homeless or threatened with homelessness, we can:

  • offer advice and information to prevent homelessness
  • assist you in staying in your current accommodation where feasible
  • help find accommodation if you are homeless or at imminent risk of becoming so
  • conduct an assessment of your situation and create a personalised housing plan.

Please note: If you are 18 to 25 years old and are threatened with homelessness, in first instance contact P3 Charity.

We may be able to take additional steps or engage with other professional agencies if you are:

  • exiting prison or youth detention
  • a care leaver
  • leaving the armed forces
  • discharged from the hospital after medical treatment for physical or mental health conditions
  • living with a learning disability
  • receiving community mental health support

Working in partnership with other organisations we can explore the various housing options available and provide you with access to quality advice to help you improve your housing situation.

Before contacting the council for support, there are a range of organisations that can provide advice and guidance to help alleviate your situation:
