Uxbridge town centre masterplan
Reshaping and revitalising Uxbridge town centre.
The council is developing a new masterplan to help revitalise Uxbridge town centre. The masterplan will look to enhance the town centre's image, economic and environmental sustainability, and accessibility.
The masterplan team

- Brunel University London - leading extensive community engagement to directly inform and shape the masterplan
Community engagement
Brunel has gathered the following feedback, which will steer the next phase of the masterplan development.
- Uxbridge is a historic town centre with an attractive set of buildings and spaces, but it is undervalued and not celebrated.
- Uxbridge is a functional town centre, but could serve its communities better. People described the centre as a friendly, convenient place, yet a banal place with no distinctive or strong identity.
- Vacancy rates for both shops and office space are a challenge for Uxbridge. New uses need to be introduced and local people are keen to see a diversification of activities with more leisure, cultural and community uses.
- Uxbridge town centre is well-served by public transport, but it is difficult to access by foot or by bicycle. Many people said existing pedestrian connections were unattractive and unsafe.
- Local people are strongly invested in the town centre, but they feel it has become run down and the quality of the environment has reduced. Interventions need to revitalise the centre and attract people back into it.
