Street trading

If you sell produce (including food) in the street in Hillingdon, you may require a street trading licence.

Street trading pitch licence

Street trading is selling or trading anything in the street. To do this, you need to apply for a street trading licence.

What you need to know

A licensed street trading pitch includes trading from a stall, stationary vehicle, mobile catering unit or fun fair rides. It also includes pitches operated for short-term events, including one day events.

If you wish to trade on a private forecourt or car park but your display or vehicle is within 7 metres from the highway, you may be required to have a street trading licence.

We aim to process applications for street trading licences in 60 days. Applications to change a licence are normally processed in 90 days.

For renewals, you should submit an application no later than 2 months before the expiry date of the licence.

Renewal applications received less than 2 months prior to the expiry date of the licence will be rejected and you will be asked to apply for a new licence.

What we need to see

  • An application to be submitted in full
  • Public liability insurance
  • One passport photo

Please ensure that you supply as much information as to what items you intend to sell and the location. We may wish for additional information to be supplied.
