Reading Well books on prescription
Research shows that self-help reading can support adults with common mental health conditions, such as anxiety, depression, phobias and some eating disorders.
They cover reading well for:

- young people (opens new window) - offer tips and ideas to help 13 to 18-year-olds understand and manage their emotions and cope with difficult experiences, such as bullying and exams.
- children (opens new window)
- long term conditions (opens new window)
- dementia (opens new window) - helpful if you have dementia, are caring for someone with dementia or would like to find out more about the condition.
These books can be recommended by GPs and other health professionals. They can also be borrowed from some of our libraries - please check with your local branch.
What if I need more help?
If you find that Reading Well books are not helping you, contact your doctor or another health professional. It can also be helpful to talk things through with your family or friends.
