Full library membership
To benefit from a full library membership, which includes borrowing and reserving items, using our computers and accessing all our online resources, follow these steps.
- Visit any of our library branches.
- Bring the required documents:
- temporary membership number (if you registered online)
- your HillingdonFirst card, or if you don't have one, an official ID document (eg passport or driving license)
- proof of your current address (eg a recent household bill).
Please note: If you are under 16, a parent or guardian must accompany you to the library to complete your registration.
Online library membership
If you can't get to your local library, why not join online?
Online library membership gives you access to some of our free online resources - and you still have the option to upgrade to a full library membership at any time.
To sign up for online library membership, follow these steps.
- Fill the online registration form.
Once you have registered online, a temporary membership number will be issued to you. - Use your temporary membership number to immediately access some of our free online resources.
To upgrade your online membership, follow the steps for full library membership.
Active library membership
Your membership is activated for 3 years (from the moment you join) and it will remain valid after this time period if you:
- have books on loan or outstanding charges owed to us
- you use your card within 12 months of the expiration date.
Your membership will remain on the system for 6 years and is then scheduled for permanent deletion in accordance with the Limitation Act 1980.
As an active member, you can request information about what data we have on your own library membership record.
