Event to help Hillingdon SMEs win new business
Thursday 8 February, 2024: Businesses in Hillingdon are being invited to attend a special event organised by Hillingdon Council to enable them to grow by procuring new contracts.
The event takes place in Committee Room 6at the Civic Centre in Uxbridge on Thursday 29 February, from 4pm until 6pm. It will be hosted by representatives from Hillingdon Council, delivery partners Branduin Business Support and other business experts.
Any small medium enterprises (SME) in the borough that are established or in the early-trade stages are encouraged to come along and find out how the council can help.
Those that sign up to the scheme will work with Branduin Business Support to expand their reach and connections, while making sure they have all the correct and necessary paperwork for supplying their goods to the wider industry through a skills development and a bids and tender support package.
Your business might be a small roofing company ready to supply tiles for large scale construction projects, or a niche industry looking to tap into international exports. The scheme has received £151,000 funding from the Greater London Authority (GLA) which will be used to support 100 local businesses.
Cllr Eddie Lavery, Hillingdon Council's Cabinet Member for Residents' Services, said: "We're committed to creating a prosperous, thriving borough where residents and businesses can grow and succeed.
"So, it's most welcome to get this government funding as part of its Levelling Up agenda, which will deliver a welcome injection of knowledge and skills to local businesses, enabling them to thrive and in turn support our local economy.
"I would urge local SMEs seeking to expand their reach to sign up to this event where our expert advisors can help you to identify and overcome the key challenges involved in gaining new contracts and gaining the skills for successful bid-writing."
The Fit To Bid programme is being delivered across three boroughs in partnership, with Harrow and Ealing also receiving a separate share of the GLA funding.
