Council encourages adult learners to sign up for childcare courses

The service offers hundreds of courses each year to help people aged 19 and above prepare for work, get promoted or gain a qualification, learn new skills, get creative or improve health and wellbeing.   

There are a variety of early years and childcare classes to support people who are new to the profession, as well as those with some experience. Courses are designed to help learners access a wide range of full-time, part-time, or more ad hoc work, that is often suited to people with young families or caring responsibilities at home. 

The unique 'Careers and Education Hub' offers people guidance and support when selecting their courses, including the financial and personal help available to people who study with the council. 

Oana-Maria Vasile has been studying with Learn Hillingdon for four years. She completed Supporting Teaching and Learning, Levels Two and Three, progressing to a Teaching Assistant Level 4 course. She works as an Advanced Practitioner in schools and colleges and aims to take on more responsibilities and support teaching staff with planning, delivery and assessments. 

She said: "My new skills and knowledge help me to be efficient and effective in my tasks, enabling me to achieve better results, and our online classes opened wider social connections for me. Through these, I was able to share my ideas with an amazing group of people, guided by a wonderful mentor. 

"Learning is a lifelong adventure that shapes who we are and who we can become, it requires dedication, perseverance and at times, the willingness to step out of our comfort zone. There are times when challenges may seem overwhelming, but I believe that it is in these moments that we truly discover our resilience and strength.  

"Whatever field you choose to study and expand your horizon with, we all have a unique opportunity to shape our future, while also making an impact on society."
