New digital parking payment system launches in Hillingdon
Monday 31 July 2023: Hillingdon Council has launched the PayByPhone, convenient and flexible parking payment system, across the borough.
The system went live across the borough today (Monday 31 July) and any residents not already registered are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible.
To get started, download the PayByPhone app and register, making sure you link your HillingdonFirst card to ensure you still get your residents' discount.
Through PayByPhone, those in a hurry can pay from their car and jump on a train, without having to visit a machine to buy a ticket, then go back and display the ticket in your car. All the details you need to book your session, including a unique location code, will be clearly marked on signs around the car park and on the parking machines themselves.
If your paid for session is coming to an end, but you need more time, you can easily extend your session via PayByPhone without having to return to your car. The system can also send handy text reminders for when your session is about to end.
If your preference is still to use your bank card or coins, don't worry, our ticket machines still take traditional payment methods.
PayByPhone's cashless parking is also available in many other car parks across the UK, so you can pay on the go, where you go.
Cllr Eddie Lavery, Hillingdon Council's Cabinet Member for Residents' Services, said: "We're committed to being a digital-enabled, modern council, and PayByPhone reflects how many people today prefer to pay for goods and services via their mobile devices.
"PayByPhone is an example of how we're modernising a service to be more agile, while maintaining what matters for residents - convenient public parking that offers value for money.
"There's no need to buy and display a ticket, it's all digital. However, if your preference is to still to pay using your bankcard or coins in person, all our ticket machines will still take those payment methods too, so no one is excluded."
Rebecca Maisey, Client Director for PayByPhone UK, said: "We are delighted to welcome Hillingdon Council to the growing number of local authorities that have launched PayByPhone. We encourage drivers to download the PayByPhone app so they are ready to take advantage of the brand-new service. Registration is very simple and takes less than 30 seconds."
