Tell us how ULEZ expansion would affect you

On 16 February, the council launched a Judicial Review, as part of a coalition of councils challenging Transport for London (TfL) and the Mayor of London's plans to expand the scheme to outer London.

Under the proposals, drivers of non-compliant vehicles would be charged at least £12.50 for each day they make journeys within the zone, which would encompass the entire borough.

In the middle of a cost-of-living crisis, with rising inflation and increases to most household spending, the council is seeking to gain a picture about the impact the expansion ULEZ will have on residents and businesses in the borough by finding out if they own a non-compliant vehicle.

The council is also keen to find out how many of those car owners will be making use of TfL's scrappage scheme. The survey includes links for those taking part in the survey to check if their vehicle is ULEZ compliant.

Cllr Douglas Mills, Hillingdon Council's Cabinet Member for Corporate Services, said: "The proposed ULEZ expansion stands to affect people right across the borough, from those who need their car to commute, do the school run or visit loved ones, to traders who rely on a vehicle for their business.

"To help us measure the probable impact of the expansion on the local economy and people's personal finances we're urging residents to take part in our anonymous survey and share their situation."

The survey has launched today and will run until Sunday 16 April.
