Appeal my banding decision

You have the right to appeal against the following decisions:

• if you are not eligible for housing
• if you do not qualify for the waiting list
• the band and priority date
• if an offer was not suitable for your needs and whether a refusal of an offer was reasonable.

How do I appeal?

If you are unhappy with our decision, you can request a formal review (PDF) [154KB] within 21 days from the date of your decision letter by emailing the housing register team. You should explain why you think the decision is wrong.

With your appeal, you should include: 

• a description and date of the original decision on which the review is sought and the reasons you disagree with the decision
• a statement stating whether you require hearing to be conducted as an oral hearing.

You may ask somebody to represent you (such as a friend or relative) in your appeal, but you must tell us you want to do this within 21 days from the date of our decision.

What happens next?

The formal review will be conducted by an officer with no previous involvement in your case.

We may need to investigate and seek new information that we were not aware of before. You must send any supporting documents about your new circumstances to enable us to consider them.
